Submit a tool

Built a browser tool people would love? Send it our way.

Bluebird is a home for small, sharp tools that run entirely in the browser. If yours fits our promise — free, private, no server uploads — we'd love to publish it with your name on it.

  • You keep ownership

Why send it to us

Independent projects get buried fast. Bluebird already brings in visitors looking for exactly the kind of small, private tools you're probably building.

Real audience

People land on Bluebird from search every day looking for a quick, private tool.

We handle polish

We take care of design, SEO, accessibility and hosting so you can focus on the tool.

Credit that sticks

Your name and link stay on the tool page — a durable portfolio piece, not a tweet.

What we accept — and what we don't

This is the honest bar. Save yourself a review round by checking your tool against both lists before you email.

Yes, send it
  • Runs 100% in the browser

Everything happens on the user's device. No uploads, no backend calls, no waiting rooms.

  • Free open-source libraries only

Anything on npm with an MIT, Apache-2.0 or similar permissive license is welcome.

  • Solves a real, searchable problem

People are already looking for it — even in a small niche. Long-tail is great; niche is great.

  • Works on mobile and desktop

    Comfortable on a 360px phone screen, a 13" laptop and a 4K monitor. Tap targets ≥44px.

  • Original or properly licensed

You wrote it, or the pieces you used allow reuse. Credit stays with you on the tool page.

  • Accessible by default

    Keyboard-navigable, screen-reader friendly, respects prefers-reduced-motion.

Please don't
  • Uploads user files to a server

Our promise is 'nothing ever leaves your device.' Anything that breaks that is a hard no.

  • Needs an API key, login or payment

Tools that require the user to sign up somewhere or pay a third party won't be accepted.

  • Heavy AI models (over ~20 MB)

First-load size matters. Anything that ships a large model kills the mobile experience.

  • Duplicates without a real upgrade

If we already have it, only send it in if yours is clearly better — batch, presets, quality.

  • Scrapers, trackers or ad-tech

No fingerprinting, no analytics beacons, no reading data the user didn't hand over.

  • Anything that could harm users

Deepfake generators, spam builders, hate speech utilities, malware helpers — declined on sight.

How to submit

Four small steps. No forms, no accounts, no dashboards to log into.

  1. 1

    Build a working prototype

Ship it on CodeSandbox, StackBlitz or a public GitHub repo. It should already run end-to-end — no half-finished demos.

  2. 2

    Email us the details

Send a short note with the tool name, one-line description, category, demo link, libraries used, and why users need it.

  3. 3

    We review within 5–7 days

You'll get a reply either way — accepted, changes suggested, or a friendly no with reasons.

  4. 4

    We polish and ship it

If accepted we style it in the Bluebird brand, add SEO, run quality checks and publish it with your credit line.

What to put in the email

Keep it short. This template is enough — click the button and it prefills your mail app with the exact fields we need.

What our review looks like

Transparent, human, and always a real reply — even if the answer is no.

  1. Day 1–2

We open your demo and try to break it on desktop and mobile.

  2. Day 3–4

Code review — accessibility, performance, license, dependency check.

  3. Day 5–6

Design review — does the flow match the Bluebird promise and voice?

  4. Day 7

You get a reply. Accepted tools go into the polish + ship queue.

What you get

No money — but real, lasting rewards

Bluebird is free forever and has no subscriptions, so we can't pay contributors. Here's what we can offer, and we take it seriously.

Permanent credit line

Your name and link appear on the tool's page and in its meta — for as long as the tool lives on Bluebird.

A real backlink

A follow link back to your portfolio, GitHub or website. Great for your own SEO and reputation.

Launch shout-out

We announce your tool across our channels the day it ships, with your handle credited.

Contributors page

A public /contributors page lists every builder who has shipped a tool — a portable proof-of-work.

Early access

Contributors see the roadmap first and can claim upcoming tool ideas before anyone else.

Bluebird contributor badge

A downloadable SVG badge you can put on your portfolio, README or CV.

Not a coder?

You can still shape Bluebird

If you have a great tool idea but can't build it, email us anyway. Put [idea] in the subject line and describe what the tool should do, who it's for, and where you looked for it before giving up. We read every note and the strongest ideas make it onto our public roadmap — credited to you.

Frequently asked

Do I need to write code to submit?

Yes. A working prototype is required. If you have a great idea but can't code it, email it anyway as a suggestion — we track community ideas separately.

Do I keep ownership of my code?

Absolutely. You keep the copyright. We ask for permission to host and maintain the tool on Bluebird with credit to you. You can request removal at any time.

Will I get paid?

No. Bluebird is a free-forever site with no subscriptions, so we can't offer money. The reward is credit, exposure, backlinks and a permanent home for your tool.

Can I promote my other work on the tool page?

Yes — one credit line with a link to your site, portfolio or GitHub. No banner ads or upsell blocks.

What if my tool overlaps something you already have?

Send it anyway. If yours is meaningfully better (batch mode, better UX, cleaner output, mobile-first), we'll happily replace or extend what's there.

Do you accept ideas without code?

We read every idea, but we can't guarantee we'll build it. Coded submissions get priority because they save us the biggest step.

How long until my tool goes live after acceptance?

Usually 1–3 weeks. It depends on how much design polish, SEO copy and accessibility work we add on top.

Can I submit multiple tools?

Yes, please. Frequent contributors get featured on the contributors page and a small 'top contributor' mark next to their credit.

Ready when you are.

One email, one working demo, one reply from a real person. That's the whole process.
